Kai Rooney grins as he shows off his catch of the day in Barbados

Kai Rooney, 8, grins as he proudly shows off his catch of the day during family fishing trip in Barbados

He has already been showing off his natural football ability, following in his dad ‘s footsteps.

And Kai Rooney showcased his unlikely talent for fishing when he proudly displayed his catch of the day over the weekend on his family Barbados getaway.

The aspiring footballer, aged eight, looked triumphant as he held up his gigantic fish during his beach day out.

Kai couldn‘t hide his delight as he beamed brightly while he trekked up the sandy shores with the bait in his hands.

Not squeamish at all, the Rooney‘s eldest son watched on with fascination when a local helped him clean and gut his catch of the day.

The talented youngster was keen to show off his huge fish to his younger brothers Klay, aged five, and Kit, aged two.

Wayne and Coleen are on parenting duty, with a little help from the WAG‘s parents Tony and Colette McLoughlin during the trip.

The Caribbean getaway is a first for four-month-old baby Cass as well as the Rooney‘s first holiday together in Barbados since last May.

It is claimed Coleen has decided not to join her husband of 10 years Wayne in the US if he signs a £300,000-a-week deal to join Washington football club DC United.

The Mail on Sunday understands she will stay in the UK for the sake of their children, moving into a £20 million, six-bedroom mansion the family are building in Cheshire.

‘Talented‘ Kai will be able to continue his football training after a source said America could not match ‘the highly talented coaches‘ at Manchester City‘s Academy.

‘Wayne and Coleen would feel awful if they did anything to affect his chances of realising his dream,’ the source added.

Wayne‘s lucrative contract with the new Major League Soccer club is said to be ‘90 per cent done’ and, once signed, he would begin playing this summer.

Coleen and the couple’s four sons will then spend time in the US capital, returning to Britain in time for the school term and the beginning of Kai’s football season.

The possible move abroad comes amid a turbulent time for the Rooneys‘ marriage yet the WAG confessed they are working on rebuilding their relationship.

Wayne was three times over the legal alcohol limit when he was pulled over by police while driving in September with Laura Simpson by his side.

As pregnant Coleen was home at the time, the Everton striker met the party girl during a night out in Cheshire and they allegedly shared a kiss.

The mother of four and her footballer husband have put the incident behind them and they are working on their romance with regular cosy nights at the cinema.

She told :  ‘We’ll have date nights, we go to the cinema, it will depend on what we’ve got on throughout the week.

‘I’ve got a good support network around me, so we do get time to ourselves.‘
