The organizers of Vancouver’s naked bike ride — set for June 30 — are saying that potential participants needn’t be shy if they don’t own a bike.
Just use Mobi, the city’s bike-share service, they say.
In a Facebook post last month, the organizers of the World Naked Bike Ride point out that there are three Mobi stations near Sunset Beach, which is the launching point of the day’s festivities.
“Please use a seat cover if you dare to bare all,” they note. (Or, in case of not having a seat cover, they suggest using the disposable helmet liners Mobi provides.)
The event kicks off at noon on June 30 with body painting and other performances. The ride begins at 2 p.m., rain or shine.
“The event is a protest against car culture and oil spills and pipelines. It is also a celebration of creativity, individuality, and the human powered machine,” the organizers say.
Mobi’s position on naked riders is not known; they’ve not yet returned a request for comment.
